About

Family and Community

My name is John Andrews and I am the current Representative for western Maine's District 73.  I am running to represent District 79 in the next Legislature (This is because of re-districting). I've been married for 15 years to my wonderful wife Jeannette who is a Physican at Western Maine OB/GYN.  We are blessed with two children who are 5 and 9 years old. Both are students at the Elementary School in Paris where we live.

I've been the Vice-Chair of the Paris Select Board and Chair of the Paris Economic Development Committee.

Currently, I am the Vice President of Waterford Fish and Game.

I enjoy coaching youth Football and Lacrosse in the Oxford Hills.  I also enjoy competitive pistol shooting when time allows.

Principles

I am a Republican and constitutional conservative. I believe in the rule of law and the maximum absence of coercion from government.  The Bill of Rights is a list of restrictions placed by citizens upon the government. We must never forget that. I believe in limited government, individual liberty and Federalism.

My voting record in Augusta reflects these principles.

Priorities

I first got into politics to defend our gun rights and that has grown into being a leading voice in defending all of our liberties in Augusta.  Limited government, by and for the people, is what we need.  We accomplish this by de-regulation and lessening the control that the administrative state has over our everyday lives.

If we want lower taxes, we must reduce the size and scope of government.

Mentions Regarding our Legislative Work

“I applaud Representative John Andrews for his leadership in organizing the Taxpayer Protection Caucus in the Maine House of Representatives, which will serve as a crucial bulwark against efforts to further raise Maine’s already high tax burden.”

"Maine Representative John Andrews, who introduced the nation’s first state resolution expressing opposition to Biden’s new IRS reporting requirement, takes issue with the fact that, in addition to giving the IRS automatic access to information about every Americans' bank account, Biden’s proposal would grant the IRS access to nearly every Venmo, PayPal, and CashApp account, even without any suspicion of wrongdoing."

"I write to thank you for your continued efforts in being a Champion for President Donald J. Trump's 'Governors' Initiative on Regulatory Innovation'. President Trump has led a historic effort to eliminate unnecessary and costly regulations that hurt American businesses and families."

"A resolution was introduced in the Maine House of Representatives that would address this massive expansion in government surveillance, which would ensnare the majority of active bank accounts. The resolution filed by Maine State Representative John Andrews points out that, “President Joe Biden wants the IRS to have automatic access to information about every Americans’ bank account as well as every PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp account, even if without any accusations of wrongdoing.”"

"State legislatures are the ground level for public policy. We need to stand up, be proactive and protect those we represent," Andrews added. "Ultimately, this resolution failed in Democrat-controlled Maine. I am thankful that the resolution was picked up and filed in other state houses across the country. That was my intention. Even in defeat, Maine can lead the way by sparking brushfires of freedom all across the country. State legislators need to be bold and fight to nullify all federal unconstitutional abuses of power."
